Allison Sharer Senior Trainer & Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant
What is the favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of this job is seeing actual change happen. Whether it is change in the health and functioning of an entire company, or seeing supervisors embracing their role more over the years, or an individual approaching me after an employee education session with a personal story. Real changes happen every day.
What are your personal passions?
My family is out of town, so I treasure my time with them and am lucky to have friends that are like family here in Ohio. I enjoy laughing with them, which we do a lot. I enjoy movies, reading, drawing, traveling. I also probably watch too much TV.
Share a fun fact about yourself – a quirky tidbit.
I took four years of French in High School and four quarters at OSU, yet can only say un peu (a little). Yet I took one quarter of sign language and can stumble through the basics with someone.
What is your professional background?
I have a BA in Communications from the Ohio State University and am an Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant. I have worked in substance abuse prevention for almost 30 years. I have served as the Past President of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Association of Ohio, and have represented Ohio’s prevention professionals at the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium.
